       Yarn packages

Objectives: At the end of this lesson you shall be able to
       • define yarn package
       • list the types of yarn packages
       • explain their purpose and uses
       • describe yarn package faults and remedies.

Yarn package 4 Spool: A small, cone-shaped package of yarn, often
A yarn package is a container or form in which yarn used in shuttle looms. (Fig 4)
is wound or stored for use in the handloom weaving
process. The choice of yarn package can significantly
impact the efficiency and quality of the weaving process.

       Common types of yarn packages
1 Hank: A loose coil of yarn, often used for hand-spun
          or traditional yarns. (Fig 1)
